Richard specialises in project management and heads up our Planning and Development Team. With over 20 years experience, he has delivered many wide ranging projects from design through to completion.
Richard is particularly skilled in building technology and specification, and regularly acts as Expert Witness for building disputes.
John heads up and supports the practice with surveying services, including building surveys, defect analysis, dilapidations and reinstatement cost assessments. He also has notable experience in specifying and managing both new build and refurbishment projects.
Martin has a wealth of experience spanning the full spectrum of surveying services. He oversees the design, specification and management of some of our most complex projects, including historic properties. Martin joined RTP in 1990 and runs our Bodmin office, which he established as part of our initial expansion.
Richard supports the practice with a wide range of professional services, including building surveys, defects analysis and dilapidations. He also has a keen eye for architectural design and has overseen many projects from design through to completion over the years. Richard also has notable experience in acting as an Expert Witness. He is our former Director in charge and founded RTP Surveyors in 1986.
Tony has vast experience in inspecting properties throughout Cornwall and the South West and specialises in building surveys and defects analysis. He became part of our team in 1994 and is well known and respected in the area.
Robert Portman joined the RTP team in 2020 as a Chartered Building Surveyor. Robert has been working in the industry since 2014 and has a wide variety of experience across all sectors of building surveying. Robert was promoted to Associate Director in 2022, with a focus on running the planning and development team. Robert thoroughly enjoys working with clients to achieve their vision of refurbishment, extensions, and new build properties. Robert is also heavily involved in defects and maintenance side of the business and has a wealth of experience in diagnosing and remediating challenging defects on properties. Robert graduated with a building surveying degree from Plymouth University in 2014 and passed his APC, becoming a full member of the RICS in 2019. Outside of working hours Robert enjoys mountain biking and body boarding in the amazing Cornish scenery.
Sue is our health and safety expert and CDM consultant. She holds a NEBOSH Construction Safety Certificate (Level 3), an MPhil in Fire Safety, and is also a highly experienced Chartered Building Surveyor.
With a varied background in both industry and academia, Sue joined us in 2008 and still maintains her relationship with the education sector to lead essential continued professional development for our team.
James has nearly 30 years experience and has undertaken a wide range of building surveying duties in several sectors including private practice, local authority, higher education and healthcare. He is experienced in undertaking condition surveys, building surveys, defect analysis/maintenance, specification and project management. James has his NEBOSH General Certificate, Certificate in Construction & Safety and his Certificate in Fire Safety and Risk Management.
Liam has over a decade of experience as a building contractor working in France, Canada and the UK. Since moving to Cornwall he has continued to develop his building surveying skillset, currently working towards his APC as a Chartered Building Surveyor. Liam is a Registered Valuer and specialises in Building Surveys, Planning and Development and Project Management.
Following a career as a Navigation Officer in the Merchant Navy, Hannah pursued a land-based career in property working in various sectors, most recently as a domestic energy assessor. Hannah has recently graduated a Masters in Building Surveying with distinction and is currently studying the APC programme towards MRICS chartership.
Amy has a wide variety of experience in the property industry. She is currently studying on the SAVA Residential Building and Valuation Course and once completed will be an AssocRICS member of RICS as well as an RICS Registered Valuer. Amy has a keen interest in Valuation, Pre-purchase surveys, Condition Surveys and the Party Wall Act.
Kirsty works from our Plymouth office in our Planning and Development Team. She has design and technical experience in leisure, residential and commercial projects. She previously managed the architectural aspect of large house builder projects for many years.
Before moving to Cornwall almost 20 years ago, Paul worked extensively in London and the surrounding areas providing architectural and interior design support to various residential and commercial properties. Since living in Cornwall he has undertaken many freelance projects and before joining RTP Surveyors worked with other local architectural practices and undertaken various projects including extensions, refurbishments and new builds.
Paul’s interests are varied and include design, architecture and visual arts related with photography, music and books also being an important part of his life.
Jake is currently studying at the University of the West of England towards his degree in Building Surveying. He is also undertaking the APC programme towards his RICS chartership, and has a keen interest in sustainable construction methods, as well as defect analysis and the party wall act.
Julie heads up our admin team and looks after the operation of all the RTP offices. Highly efficient and experienced, she keeps everything working smoothly and ensures we are compliant in our procedures. Julie also provides admin support to the team.
Sara leads all aspects of finance and accounting for the practice. She’s been a crucial part of our team since 2005 and is the first port of call for invoicing and payments. Sara also provides admin support to the team.
Tamsin is our Marketing Administrator and part of the admin team at the Falmouth office. Extremely organised, she is the first port of call for all Survey enquiries and appointments. Tamsin also organises various events and training for the team.
