Architectural Technician

An opportunity has arisen for a qualified Architectural Technician or Technologist to join our
team. We are looking for someone who is a highly motivated team player, focused on
attention to detail, with strong communication skills and excellent organisational and time
management skills. You will be working in a tight-knit department consisting of Chartered
Building Surveyors, Surveyors and Architectural Technicians, which is overseen by a
director of the firm. The successful candidate will be based in our offices at Tremough
Innovation Centre, and will have the opportunity to work on a wide variety of projects.
Principal Objectives of the Role:
- Provide a professional Architectural Technician service to the Design Team(s).
- In conjunction with the Design Teams, apply technical construction knowledge to
planning and development/maintenance projects from briefing stage through to
contract completion.
- In conjunction with the Design Teams, prepare and submit statutory applications
requesting Planning Permission, Building Regulation Approval and other similar
applications.
- Carry out measured surveys of existing buildings and land etc to facilitate future
design work.
- Prepare CAD drawings for tender and construction purposes.
- Act as lead point of contact on agreed projects; liaison with existing and potential
clients.
- Assist in the development and implementation of CAD techniques and services
offered by the practice.
- Liaise and disseminate best practice in CAD techniques in the practice.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain competence levels via appropriate CPD.
- Applicants should have post-qualification experience.
- Proficient in AutoCAD.
- Good presentation skills, experience of managing projects and liaising with
consultants and clients.
- Sound and well-rounded knowledge of UK Building Regulations.
- Experience of preparing Planning, Building Regulation and construction packages.
- Able to work on your own initiative with strong problem-solving skills.
- Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary environment across teams to ensure
successful delivery of projects.
- Contribute to the efficient delivery of projects to meet programme and budget.
Requirements
- Confident, enthusiastic and approachable manner.
- Degree qualified, or HNC/HND equivalent qualification.
- Strong knowledge of construction including Building Regulations and Planning
processes and applications.
- Good organisation and time keeping skills.
- Ability to work alone and as part of a design team.
General
The role is principally based at our Tremough Innovation Centre office, although it will
occasionally be necessary to travel to our Bodmin office to liaise with the design teams
there and/or to project sites throughout Cornwall, the Plymouth area and occasionally into
Devon.
- Other general duties as required.
- The ability to use the Microsoft suite of programmes for day-to-day use.
- Telephone duties including liaising with clients, contractors, suppliers and other
members of staff as necessary.
- Use of our Union Square database to record correspondence, meetings and
telephone messages etc.
Salary: Dependant on experience
